Morgan Sindall plc - the construction and regeneration group - has announced that Morgan Ashurst is set to start work on a £134 million public private partnership (PPP) scheme.
The scheme is to design and build six new secondary schools in East Dunbartonshire, Scotland. Morgan Ashurst will be working with joint-venture partner, AMEC building and facilities services.
The contract award is worth £100 million to Morgan Ashurst, and follows financial close of a 30-year PPP led by InspirED, a consortium working on behalf of East Dunbartonshire Council.
As the consortium's construction partner, Morgan Ashurst will design and build
six state-of-the-art secondary schools in Bearsden, Bishopbriggs, Kirkintilloch
and Milngavie. The new Morgan Sindall urban regeneration division, Muse
Developments, will develop the schools' surplus sites for mixed-use commercial
and residential accommodation.
Paul Smith, chief executive of Morgan Sindall plc said: “The award of this significant construction project reinforces Morgan Ashurst's leading expertise in building schools for the future. I am also pleased that Morgan Ashurst is working with our new business, Muse, on this project. This underlines our very strong position in urban regeneration.”
